Youth Social Action Fund

More Information

The money for this fund has been provided by Step Up to Serve, The Big Lottery and the Government Office for Civil Society.
Foundation Derbyshire will run this programme here in our County until March 2019. The amount available to give out will be dependant on how much ‘Match Funding’ the Foundation can raise from our bank of supporters and local philanthropists. We would hope and aim to have between £30 – £60K per annum.

The fund is looking to engage more young people in volunteering opportunities. These volunteer activities should get young people more involved in and understanding their local communities and ultimately make their communities better places to live.

The project should run regularly  for a full year so that the volunteering becomes embedded in their lives (where possible)

The volunteering must be enjoyable and rewarding but also offer the young people a challenge

The young people must have a chance to shape and progress the project – bringing their own ideas to the table

The age range target is 10 to 20 and extends up to 25 for disabled young people.

It is open to new groups as well as established organisations

All successful groups would be expected to engage their young people in project surveys / feedback

Type of Project costs funded

The grant must be used for project delivery and will not fund capital / equipment purchases (apart from refreshment and possibly small sums for consumables)

Costs we would expect to see:  Staff costs, room hire. travel, refreshments, incentive costs (not cash incentives), promotional costs, training,….
